A Turtle River Township man was arrested last Friday after an investigation led to the discovery of a marijuana grow operation. According to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ernie Bietel, the investigation into a motor vehicle theft brought the department to the 5600 block of Pincherry Road, approximately 3.5 miles east of Bemidji, where a large number of harvested marijuana plants were found.

Sixty-six-year-old William Christopher was in the process of harvesting this back yard grow operation when contact was made, and marijuana was found in almost every room of the house, as were several loaded guns which included assault-type rifles, shotguns and black powder rifles. Christopher was released pending formal charges, and the exact weight of the marijuana is yet to be determined.
