REMER MN – Authorities are searching for a missing Ham Lake man.  The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance locating 60-year-old David Rickbeil.  Deputies say Rickbeil’s vehicle was found abandoned on County Road 48 near Remer. He is described as a white male 5’6” 165 pounds with blue eyes. Anyone with information on Rickbeil should contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at 218-547-1424 or a local law enforcement agency.

BLACKDUCK MN – Police in Blackduck reports that everyone was evacuated safely after a fire broke out Friday morning at the Serenity Living Solutions assisted living facility. Police and fire officials say they received a call about a structure fire at the facility at around 1:45 A-M. Police say officers and fire and rescue crews responded to the scene, but there were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Blackduck Fire was assisted by, Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Bemidji Fire Department, Kelliher Fire Department, Blackduck Ambulance, Bemidji Ambulance, and the Blackduck Police Department.

CASS LAKE MN – The Leech Lake Tribal Police Department and Itasca County Sheriffs Office are requesting the public’s assistance in locating missing person FRANK SHERMAN Jr. Frank last had contact with family on Monday July 23rd. He was last seen wearing a tank top, blue jeans, white shoes, and a gray hat. Frank is approximately 6 feet tall, 185-200 lbs, and is a Native American male. He has brown eyes, black shoulder length hair and a mole on his left forearm. He also has scars on his arm and may be wearing glasses. Any contact with FRANK SHERMAN JR, or if anyone knows of his whereabouts, please call LLTPD at 218-335-8277, or 911.

BEMIDJI MN – The Bemidji Elks Lodge, provided the United Way of Bemidji Area’s Backpack Buddies Food Pack Program with a $500 donation from the Elks Gratitude Grant.  Bemidji Elks Lodge is committed to serving the youth and veterans of the community.

BEMIDJI MN – Visitors to the Beltrami County Fair Aug. 8-12 can stop by the Commercial Exhibits building to talk with Minnesota Department of Transportation staff about current and future projects, road safety, employment and more. MnDOT will be at the Beltrami County Fair through the week to answer questions about the highways and bridges, snowplowing and how you can apply for work in District 2, which serves 14 counties in northwest Minnesota. Materials will be available to visitors along with state highway maps, brochures and other giveaways.

BIG FALLS MN – A Milaca man is dead after a collision between a motorcycle and a moose in Koochiching County.  The Minnesota State Patrol says 66-year-old Gary Vansickle was northbound on Highway 6 near Big Falls Saturday afternoon when he struck a moose crossing the roadway. He was taken to Sanford Hospital where he died.  Vansickle was wearing a helmet during the crash.  Koochiching County sheriff’s deputies say motorcycles vs. moose collisions are pretty rare because there aren’t a lot of moose in the area.  No word on whether the moose survived the crash.
